Battalion | games | -1 | Battalion | This is an instant classic when you add the sounds. The blocky graphics would be dreadful if it were a serious game, but it's really comical and perfect for the easily entertained. | 2001-07-29 19:13:46 | 0
Liquid War | games | 3477 | Liquid War | Answer to the previous anonymous post: Use "tar xfP" instead of a plain "tar xf" (note the "P" option) to install the game in /usr/local. Otherwise you can install it in /home/usename/usr/local and run it by typing "/home/username/usr/local/bin/liquidwar -dat /home/username/usr/local/share/liquidwar/liquidwar.dat" (this is usefull if you don't have root access on your machine). Good luck. | 2001-07-30 02:25:32 | 0
Penguin Command | games | 4074 | Penguin Command | I do not understand the rating of Mr. Jenner below. This game is great! Of course, I don't play it for hours but that's not the point of an arcade game, I guess. The point is to play it from time to time to distract yourself and relax a bit and Penguin Command definitely does a good job with this! | 2001-07-30 05:55:18 | 0
Dominions | games | -1 | Dominions | Whithout the source code, this game is just worthless... | 2001-07-30 06:17:41 | 0
xtraceroute | games | 5048 | xtraceroute | Great... It freezed my computer -_- I won't rate it because it might be the Mesa drivers who froze, even if they never froze with other programs... | 2001-07-30 12:09:31 | 0
IceBreaker | games | 2642 | IceBreaker | This is a great little puzzle game. It's simple to learn, but difficult to become really good at, and highly addictive. Even if you don't like puzzle games, give IceBreaker a whirl anyway. You might like it. ;) | 2001-07-31 09:28:47 | 0
Dusk | games | 5078 | Dusk | UPSIDE: It's a pretty impressive piece of work. It is the only one of the very few games I play online. It has good graphics and is a friendly environment(as far as RPGs go). In short, the game is so addictive that it wastes too much of my time(I mean that in a good way). :) This game also gives you an idea of how the application is run by reading and compiling the code. You can modify the Java code to fully customize the way your world operates. There are many separate worlds you can go to play dusk. There is OW, New Dusk, QFL, Darkstar and others too numberous to mention. DOWNSIDE: The only downside to this game is the lag, which sometimes causes the game to pause for a few seconds. Overall, however, I think this is a game for those to be enjoyed by all ages. Richard P. Online Alias: Dall distant_lands@hotmail.com | 2001-08-01 20:06:53 | 0
Liquid War | games | 5079 | Liquid War | The best way to describe this game is as a sort of real-time version of the Japanese board game Go (which is at least as stimulating as chess). Installation runs fine, although I had some problems getting it to recognize the liquidwar.dat file at first. There are a variety of maps - although some of them are rather impractical, most of them are well made. A really nicely done and fun game. | 2001-08-01 22:21:59 | 0
XLogical | games | -1 | XLogical | You can add your own in game music to be randomly played by Xlogical by setting the "music.ingame.paths" property to a ':' separated list of directories containing mod files. A good place to start looking for new music is http://www.modarchive.com. Happy clicking! | 2001-08-02 07:45:06 | 0
