IceBreaker games 4094 IceBreaker Ooops, sorry -- forgot to log in. Please do send me e-mail, though. Complaining anonymously doesn't do any good. :) 2001-07-24 12:41:33 0
Roll 'm Up games -1 Roll 'm Up VIRUS?!?!??!?! I just downloaded this file and as soon as it finished downloading, my McAfee complains about a virus. Author please verify. (McAfee version v4.5.0.534, virus definition file 4149) 2001-07-24 16:11:11 0
Mobility games 5035 Mobility For one thing, it's closed source. For another, they make you pay. Now, paying isn't bad, I don't mind paying, I pay for software all the time. But the fact that you only pay for the Linux version is compleatly unacceptable. That being said, the game is OK. Graphics are nice, and it's a fun play, but I've decided to boycott this until make they make it equal price, and perhaps until they open the source. I hope you do the same. 2001-07-25 00:04:39 0
Castle-combat games -1 Castle-combat Rampart Rules! I hope it is true to the original! 2001-07-25 00:19:57 0
xrick games 4948 xrick It's almost there. The program depends on no files, so it's dead easy to install, even if the build "system" can't do it by itself. I used to play RD on the Amiga, and this brings the old times back. Sound is probably the only important thing missing. A main menu with options would be OK, but all the annoyances reported before have been cleared, and it's obvious this game will reach its full potential soon. Thanks! 2001-07-25 00:38:51 0
glChess games 4948 glChess Reminds me of a classic PovRay scene, but you can play with this one! My Voodoo 3 crashes when reflections are enabled, but that's a problem Mesa and my card have. As of 0.3.3, Max FPS and the window size are still not saved when clicking "Save settings". The program should install a global /etc/glchessrc file and copy it to the user's .glchessrc if he doesn't have one. glchessrc.installed failed to have the install paths I put in the Makefile. Add a configure script. Animate the pieces when they move: the way it happens now is shockingly instantaneous. Other than all these minor details, a great release, and a very promissing Chess game (if not the flashiest client I know). 2001-07-25 00:55:27 0
NetHack Falcon's Eye games 4948 NetHack Falcon's Eye I showed Nethack (Actually Slash'EM) to a Diablo fan, but not before laughing at all the details Nethack has that Diablo actually lacks. All these details are what make Nethack more interesting in the long run. Then I started showing him Nethack, with the GTK+ interface, and this still proved to be a little bit complicated for my friend. So I put Falcon's Eye instead and he was playing (and soon starving and having all kind of newbie stupid deaths), thanks to the point-and-click interface of Falcon's Eye interface. Problems: lack of variety in graphics, but this is getting solved, as the Falcon's Eye author is a very good and prolific artist. I still had to explain my friend how to kick doors and weild weapons, but that's the least of the problems. Last, and as usual, it's painfully difficult to get any version of NetHack compiled properly, due to all the variables that have to be set. It would be great if Falcon's Eye provided a more intelligent setup script. One of the best free games out there. 2001-07-25 01:06:25 0
Tower Toppler games 4948 Tower Toppler Very well done. This is the kind of old game that created a kind of world that would make it possible to save resources. Like "all objects are cilindrical", for an excuse not to render the sprites in every possible angle. I remember Ghosts 'n' Ghouls used to have a couple of levels like these, but this is much more complicated. Also, the kind of game my sister would be pleased to play, with no violence and macho stuff. Quite difficult, but not impossible nor frustrating. Still has to make a better build system (configure?); at least to define some paths for the wav and bitmap files, so it can be easily installed. An option to go fullscreen inside the game would be nice (and save this option in a $HOME/.rc file). Great game. 2001-07-25 01:44:00 0
BZFlag games 5048 BZFlag At least I made this game run and... what a disappointment. There aren't much control on the tank, and the few control you have cannot be reconfigured a lot (and I dislike the way the mouse is used). There was a Tank game on TRS-80 which was a lot more fun (but which hadn't network enable :) ) 2001-07-25 05:14:19 0
