At 2 hours, 50 minutes, this was by far our longest interview ever. Mr. Simms waxed eloquent on a number of topics, including, but not limited to:

Open source and "bazaar" style game development
Why WineX is more dangerous to Linux gaming than Microsoft
How the LGP team begins a new porting project
How approaching retailers and publishers is more difficult in a post-Loki world
Just how much *does* a professional Linux game programmer earn?
Ports Status

The Majesty port is awaiting approval from Cyberlore. Release estimate: 2-3 weeks.
The Ballistics port is already playable, thanks to the efforts of theoddone33, relnev and svartalf. Release estimate: 2-3 months.
The Bandits port is expected to go very quickly once Ballistics is done, as the Ballistics engine uses a subset of the Bandits engine.
Fixing Majesty bugs slowed start of the Disciples 2 port, so that is only now just getting underway.
Michael unveiled LGP's "mystery" project: Monkeystone's Hyperspace Delivery Boy. A short beta will begin in a few weeks. Release estimate: 4 weeks.
Other News

LGP came *this* close to getting the rights to publish a dedicated Linux version of Neverwinter Nights, but the deal fell through at the last moment.
LGP will soon have a developer working full time helping get two (unnamed) open source projects up to release quality.
Applications for the game development company will close "in the next few days".
LGP will never port Daikatana to Linux.
There's a bazillion good things in this transcript. Grab yours now Michael Simms interview transcript default
