Also you can work around badly design levels (too many hidden bricks or extremly tough to hit) by the new 'warp' function that gets you to the next level after you cleared enough bricks. How many is defined by yourself in the menu 'Advanced Options'.
Important to theme authors is that bricks and extras may have custom colorkeys and an optional floor graphic (to override the default line of indestructible bricks) can be provided.
Also the 'Select Theme' menu entry has moved from 'Advanced Options' to 'Graphics' as this is more appropiate.
| LBreakout 2.3.5 | updated | LBreakout |

Lead programmer Ingo Ruhnke writes:
A few bugs might still be remaining but in general the game engine works. But what we currently miss is a game built with that engine. Pingus is merely a collection of random levels at the moment, they are not ordered after difficulty or topic.
...we are currently only a few and could need some more help. You don't to be a great artist[...]you don't need to be a C++ programmer[...]all you basically need is a bit of spare time and an eye to rate and playtest all the levels that we currently have. You also need to be prepared to encounter bugs or unplayable levels[...] So here a short summary of what we need (in order of importance):

Beta Testers, which test every level and the gameplay and report bugs or feature wishes.
Level designers, to create or fix levels.
Webdesigner, this page currently looks ugly and needs a redesign.
Graphic artists, to create the surrounding of the game, the GUI, the story cutscenes, worldmaps, etc.
If you think you can help with one of the above, drop a mail to the devel mailing list at pingus-devel@mail.freesoftware.fsf.org for more details. Almost everybody should be able to help with Beta Testing, so don't be shy.
Lend them a hand, folks. There's potential for a really high quality game here. This would be a great first step for someone who's interested in learning more about game creation. | The Pingus project wants YOU | default | Pingus |
