An implementation of Minesweeper for X. |
Xmine is an implementatin of the classic Minesweeper game which looks exactly like the version for that other popular windowing system. The binary, which has Motif statically linked, is a whopping 840k stripped; there's not much bang for the byte here. As minesweeper games go, I think Xdemineur is a better deal. |

Track how much distance your mouse pointer travels. |
Xodometer is an odometer program that tracks the distance your cursor and your pointing device travel. Sure, it's totally useless, but I think it's pretty cool anyway. The interface could use a little color, though. |

An astroids game for X |
Xoids is another asteroids game for X. It's similar in feel to the original wireframe xasteroids, but with color pixmaps, better animations, and details such as realistically sized asteroids and engines that can overheat. The two-player cooperative mode is interesting: the two ships are linked with an elastic cable, making maneuvering an interesting experience. |

This game is similar to the old arcade game Qix. |
This game is similar to the old arcade game Qix. The point is to use your cursor to fill in regions of the screen while avoiding the red balls; block in three-quarters of each screen to move on to the next level, where there is one more red ball to watch out for. |

Xonotic is a free (GPL), fast-paced first-person shooter that is cross platform. |

Xonotic is a free (GPL), fast-paced first-person shooter that works on Windows, OS X and Linux. The project is geared towards providing addictive arena shooter gameplay which is all spawned and driven by the community itself. Xonotic is a direct successor of the Nexuiz project with years of development between them, and it aims to become the best possible open-source FPS (first-person-shooter) of its kind.

The game is based off the Darkplaces game engine which is originally a quake modification, though it is now far more advanced over the course of many years of development. Because of the features of this engine, Xonotic has incredibly good graphics for an opensource game and is on par with most commercial games from 2006-2007. The gameplay is of course slightly inspired by several other games, but it is essentially a unique mixture of mostly original and different ideas which really makes the game stand out. It could be considered most similar to Unreal Tournament and Quake at its heart, especially regarding teamplay and game mechanics. |

0.2.1 |
A curses remake for Linux of Xor by Astral Software. |

The basic objective of XorCurses is to roam around a series of mazes collecting masks within a limited number of moves but unlimited time.

The first level is simply a matter of correct navigation, but subsequent levels introduce objects which block the pathway to the masks.

Although the behaviour of each individual object is simple and predictable, when situated together, the puzzles created soon become very challenging indeed!
