A scrolling space shooter. |
An action game for X11 with many levels. The object is to destroy all the structures on each level by shooting the purple bulb in the center of the structure. Of course, various enemy craft are trying to get you at the same time. This game is strangely addictive. |

This game is a small puzzle game. CONTINUE READING! It is a maze. The only interesting part about it is that your mouse is stuck inside the maze. Your mouse can only follow the maze. Your mouse can't exit the maze. It's very interesting to see that this can be done. There is also an option so you can't quit the game and to trap keyboard keys so you can't exit. If you kill the program from another terminal, your x server might crash. Great to play a joke on someone! |

XLogical is a logic game, where you have to group little colored balls together. |
Xlogical is a new logic game, where you have to group little colored balls together. One ball at a time comes out from the "ball generator" and you have to put it in an empty hole in one of the spinners. Once you fill the 4 holes of the spinner with matching balls, the spinner turns off and the balls disappear. You start with 4 spinners, and you get more and more spinners as you progress.
The game has good graphics, sound, and looks great... |

Classical old Chinese desk game. |
This is an implementation of Mahjongg for X for those who couldn't use GNOME/KDE. It supports several tilesets and looks nice. Of course it's very playable.

This is a very, very cool program. ROMs are kind of hard to find at the moment, though, because apparently The Man is cracking down on sites who distribute them. As if Dig Dug still has value outside a nostalgia application like this one.
<p>
Mame also supports Glide and OpenGL rendering, and experimental networked multiplayer.
<p>
Unfortunately, arcade ROM images are a legal gray area, and therefore difficult to find. However, they are out there if you look hard enough. |

<p>xmess is an X11 port of MESS, the Multiple Emulator Super System.<br />
Like its name, there are numerous emulators of game consoles and home computers accumulated in one package. As the sister project of xmame, xmess is always updated at the same time but only distributed together with xmame so that needs to be downloaded instead.<br />
<br />
All graphical front-ends for xmame support xmess as well but apparently the development of xmess has been halted in favour of SDLMESS. |

XMille is an X interface to the Mille Bournes card game. It's a great game, but I would enjoy it more if it supported multiple (human) players. Also, the informative label telling you why you can't play a card isn't wide enough and the text often is truncated. |
