Remove contiguous groups of the same shape. |
This game has something for everyone. It's similar to Makigame for the PalmPilot. The concept is simple: you get four cursor keys and an action key. Identical shapes are removed from the playing field in contiguous groups of two or more. In the action game, get rid of shapes as quickly as you can, while new shapes are inexorably stacked on top of the old ones. In the puzzle mode, you start with a static screen full of shapes and remove them to get the highest score (the bigger the group, the higher the score). Finally, there's a two-player competition mode: two people playing head-to-head on the same keyboard. The only thing missing is a pause mode, for when the cat jumps up and strolls in front of the monitor. This game is a lot of fun, and quite addictive. Dare I say it's the next Tetris? |

A Tetris-like with falling jewels. |
Reminiscent of Columns for the Macintosh. XJewel is a falling-pieces game like Tetris, only jewels are removed from the board if three or more of the same jewel lie in a straight line. Interesting cascade-like effects can be achieved when the removal of jewels causes another set of jewels to line up, and so on. The original Columns game wasted far too much of my time; this is fairly comparable, lacking mainly digitized sounds. |

A jigsaw puzzle for X! |
Although not really a game per se, this is such a beautifully-done puzzle that I couldn't resist. XJig lets you turn any GIF into an online jigsaw puzzle, and to add a nice twist, the pieces are double-sided, so you have to figure out which side should go on top. The puzzle interface is great; pieces snap together in a satisfying way, and they can be pushed around on the table just like in real life. If your machine can handle it, you can even play on the root window. Try it with adult pics for a real treat. :) |

Connect to the Kali network to chat and play Descent 1 & 2. |
xKali was designed in order to have a stable, useable Kali client to chat and play d1x/d2x.
GTKali was the last client officially supported by Kali.Inc which uses a proprietary library written by Jay Cotton, founder of Kali, however that library is now very outdated.
xKali is an unofficial utility that operates off of an interpreted version of the Kali Protocol and although it is still under development it is quite usable.
