Quake | games | -1 | Quake | Great stuff. This used to work on my machine, but I upgraded to a newer Linux and now I get an error like the quake executable doesn't exist- even though it's visible in the file system. this happens both with the libVGA and X versions. Any ideas? | 2000-09-29 00:06:09 | 0

LBreakout | games | 4074 | LBreakout | SDL_SetClipping() does no longer exists in SDL 1.1.5. They also inverted the meaning of the alpha byte. So if you use SDL 1.1.5 make sure to have SDL_1_1_5 defined at the top of the file sdl.c in the new version 000929! (If it is not defined you'll get some strange transparency effects.) | 2000-09-29 06:45:57 | 0
Chromium B.S.U. | games | 4081 | Chromium B.S.U. | Chromium B.S.U. has great graphics and has a suitably simple interface making it accessible. There is only one gripe I have with it: I kept getting killed by something that was obviously not visible to me, which kind of ruined the experience (I have a Voodoo3 2000/PCI; maybe some feature the OpenGL driver lacks causes this to happen...?). If this issue is resolved, this game could really be one helluva shoot'em up, and I'd probably rate it significantly higher :) | 2000-09-29 08:34:35 | 0
Chromium B.S.U. | games | -1 | Chromium B.S.U. | (#1 again) I got it working. The problem was the leftover XFree86 non-accelerated glx file /usr/X11R6/lib/modules/extensions/libglx.a which was being used in preference to the libglx.so. This begs 2 questions: Why does the XFree86 team claim their driver offers hardware acceleration when it doesn't. All their drivers do software rendering (like ATI). They claim they do hardware acceleration. It is a lie. Why??????? | 2000-09-29 10:06:26 | 0

LBreakout | games | 3722 | LBreakout | I have just installed version 000930 of this game, and it seems every problem I have had has been fixed. So what are you waiting for download this now. Finaly XBoing has some competition. God damn I love the SDL libs. | 2000-09-30 18:49:36 | 0
Chromium B.S.U. | games | -1 | Chromium B.S.U. | To #1: So basically what your saying is you set X up incorrectly. Gee... | 2000-09-30 18:57:21 | 0
BZFlag | games | 4086 | BZFlag | Too fraggin' shweet. This game has got to have the best playability amongst anything out there, free or otherwise. I'm supposed to be monitoring these damn satellites, but I'm just having too much fun! ;-) | 2000-10-01 05:08:37 | 0
LBreakout | games | -1 | LBreakout | This game has never worked correctly for me, including the 1002 version. Now what is happening is I launch the ball with the left mouse button, and it creeps off very slowly. It gets about 1-2 times its diameter away from the paddle, then immediately appears up near the bricks, having bounced off one. It comes back a little, very slowly, and then I lose the ball. Actually the ball just vanishes. The ball is just popping from one place to another. Also I don't want to install it in order to find out yet again that it doesn't work. I had to change the SRC_DIR usage to "./" and run it from the lbreakout subdirectory itself. It's pretty hard to screw up so glaringly on some machines and not others, my hat is off to the programmer. | 2000-10-02 10:54:05 | 0
