ID-Car | games | -1 | ID-Car | This looks a bit like the old Games Workshop BattleCars game for the spectrum without the weapons: see <a href=http://mjwilson.future.easyspace.com/crash/issues/09/images/bcars.gif>http://www.mjwilson.demon.co.uk/crash/09/gw.htm</a>. Now that was an amazing game, so I'm really looking forward to see where ID-car goes. Can I get a smokescreen? If not, I might have to code it myself! | 2000-09-25 04:43:04 | 0
ID-Car | games | -1 | ID-Car | Needs a lot of work. Runs way too fast on a fast machine, car is uncontrollable. Car gets stuck against wall. Something fishy about the turns, they don't seem right. Graphics are nice though. This has potential if the author keeps working on it. I'd like to see a micro machines approach. | 2000-09-25 09:39:27 | 0
LBreakout | games | -1 | LBreakout | Fatal signal: Segmentation Fault (SDL Parachute Deployed) As soon as I try to fire the ball... Aside from that it looked nice. | 2000-09-25 09:43:42 | 0
Setup | games | 679 | Setup | I haven't used it myself*, but to respond to the comment below, I think the advantage to Setup is that it is XML-based. * I haven't used it in a project, but I've used it when installing Heavy Gear II and Terminus. I was very happy that both games let me install into a /home/ directory as a non-root user! Whee! | 2000-09-25 11:43:28 | 0
LBreakout | games | -1 | LBreakout | Same problem as the guy below... SDL parachutes deployed can mean anything. | 2000-09-25 15:39:08 | 0
LBreakout | games | 3722 | LBreakout | Not a bad game. But it needs a fullscreen option. There might be one but I can't find it. Secondly I can't get passed the first level I have played it a few times and the ball gets stuck in an infinate loop. If these issues get addressed it will fast replace xboing as my favourite break out clone. I had no problems compiling it, or getting it to install, and I have not come across a segmentation fault yet. Good work! | 2000-09-25 20:35:56 | 0
Crystal Space | games | -1 | Crystal Space | Amazing! I just ried out some demos, but this will be something I *definetly* spend some time learning how to use it. Keep up the good work! | 2000-09-26 15:08:15 | 0
MOTE | games | -1 | MOTE | How do u install it? i dont even know where to begin!(im just slow) but u really should include instructions. | 2000-09-26 17:32:01 | 0
Chromium B.S.U. | games | 971 | Chromium B.S.U. | This game has excellent graphics (OpenGL rocks!) and a nice "feel" to the controls. Unfortunately, that's about all it has. <p> The gameplay is extremely repetitive (I couldn't even tell a difference between the levels), there are only three different weapons (with no way to strategically choose which weapons to use) and no other items aside from shields, and there are only four types of enemies. This isn't surprising, since the author essentially wrote it as a quick hack. Even so, I don't think that this is more than a shadow of the classic top-scrolling games. <p> Oh, and to the poster below: the problem is likely that you're using software GL. XFree86 4.0 with DRI runs this game (and, for that matter, q3demo) as fast as you could wish on my G400. | 2000-09-27 15:03:13 | 0
LBreakout | games | 3722 | LBreakout | Michael Speck the author of LBreakout has just emailed me and explained that the fullscreen option is being added this week, and also that the error I talk about below has been fixed. So I give the game 5 stars, and I suggest you all download it and give it a go. Xboing has some competition now. This game is excellent. | 2000-09-27 17:39:29 | 0
