Penguin Command | games | 4 | Penguin Command | I like it, nice sounds, nice graphics. It's fast enough on my K6-200. | 2000-07-27 16:33:45 | 0
Quake 3 Arena | games | -1 | Quake 3 Arena | the source code is now avaible: see ftp :ftp://ftp.idsoftware.com/idstuff/quake3/sources | 2000-07-27 16:51:53 | 0
Descent 3 | games | -1 | Descent 3 | Now that I've got it running, Descent 3 looks very fine. But: installing 3D support in linux was a MAJOR pain in the butt... It took me two full days, including scrapping the whole system and reinstalling everything from scratch before it ran on my TNT card. With my other computer, equipped with a Voodoo 3000, still no luck. I have never had so many total freezes and lockups in my life since I use linux, which is almost 4 years now. </rant> But I'm VERY happy Descent3 was ported ! Maarten | 2000-07-28 06:49:41 | 0
Descent 3 | games | -1 | Descent 3 | Splendid game! I downloaded (40 MB! Yikes!) and all I needed to do was chmod o+x the thing... run it and it self-extracts, run the resultant demo and it automatically chooses the best 3d rendering system, Glide if possible. This presumes you've set up the (somewhat hairy) 3d accelerated Mesa stuff [but you ARE running Debian, aren't you??]. Sneaky note: I'm running it on a P166 overclocked to 187, 32 MB RAM with a Voodoo 1 card. This is BELOW the minimum specs, and it's quite playable (hiccups here and there, but let's be realistic). This is one phenomenal port, only $24.95US direct, but the demo even includes a couple multiplayer games, so try it for yourself. If any of the developers are reading this, I am EXTREMELY impressed you got the playability and visual smorgasbord of this game on such low hardware requirements! | 2000-07-29 07:14:54 | 0
ClanMecha | games | -1 | ClanMecha | I think this game is hella cool and should be rated 5 stars !!! | 2000-07-29 14:29:06 | 0

Penguin Command | games | 3908 | Penguin Command | fun, but the music gets on one's nerves after a bit! also, is easy for far too long, then suddenly becomes very difficult : ) | 2000-07-30 03:56:34 | 0
SMM++ | games | 3909 | SMM++ | Strangely, I don't use automapping capabilities, maybe it is not my playing style; anyhow, it is very good under many and many aspects, but the best are (a) multiplatform (b) the strict contact of his author with users. This last is an assurance for continuous improvement. | 2000-07-30 07:48:30 | 0
Heroes | games | -1 | Heroes | The best non-commercial Linux game I´ve seen so far. Cool, graix, cool sound and cool gameplay. The only thing I miss is network-multiplayer. 5 out of 5 points! | 2000-07-30 09:23:18 | 0
TuxKart | games | 3794 | TuxKart | This is a really cool idea!! There's sure a lot that can be improved, but it's a start. For anyone who likes Tux or Mariokart or just wants to have a little fun: Try it out!! | 2000-07-30 11:46:03 | 0
