TRONtium | games | -1 | TRONtium | Low level code was fine in the 19[7/8]s when computers ran at 2mzh or less with 64k ram max and flopy drives at best. When exiting a program ment turnning the computer off and loading a new program ment inserting a diffrent floppy disk there isn't much chance of a virus or worse. But todays computers are far more powerful. Programs share a commen space on a hard disk and systems are hundreds of times faster and systems have uptimes mesured in days, or months instead of hours or minuts. No more shutting down when your done with a program. So yes we worry about giving random code secure access to the system. More than that... Linux and Unix do not run on a single set of chips. My video card may be VGA and it may be some new technology. The only reliable interface into a random system is vea the libarys. Run as root and the user takes some risks. Including the posablity that the author didn't take his exact hardware into account. The chances are slim that any given binary has a virus or trojen. They chances are equally good that the users system isn't normal. All it takes is a 3D card, a LCD display or a Pentium chip to confuse code expecting a VGA/486 when you write low level code. That can do as much damage as any virus.. some times more | 2000-06-09 05:56:16 | 0
xox | games | -1 | xox | well... i am afraid i don't love this game! :( it just made me VERY nervous! the ball keeps bouncing everywhere! I am sorry, but if you are the kind of people to get nervous fast (like me), do NOT download this game! | 2000-06-09 22:52:25 | 0
ICBM3D/2 | games | -1 | ICBM3D/2 | This is a cool game, and a good way to kill some time durring long downloads. I give this game 4 stars ****. I like the interface, and I like the texturing and efects that are pulled off w/ out hardware acceleration. Nice job, and I hope to see advancements to this game in the future.... | 2000-06-10 01:09:47 | 0

Advanced Strategic Command | games | -1 | Advanced Strategic C | I've had no issues with the speed (indeed, I'm quite happy with it), but then again I'm playing in a framebuffer console. Seems to be quite a nice game, but I'll have to round up some friends to play to get a better-formed opinion. | 2000-06-10 08:34:57 | 0

ICBM3D/2 | games | 679 | ICBM3D/2 | (sigh) Why do people anonymously post a comment about a game and then say "I give it X stars." That doesn't actually DO anything - the rating stays the same! | 2000-06-10 18:35:20 | 0
TRONtium | games | 810 | TRONtium | Lame. No source code. SVGA (uck!), Get glTron instead...same game premise but about a million times better. | 2000-06-10 19:43:20 | 0
