GTulpas | games | 103 | GTulpas | Nice looking and fast but hard to get the "feel" for potting balls. Needs a power-meter when you shoot and some help-lines to get you going. | 2000-03-17 06:56:37 | 0
Worldforge | games | 2391 | Worldforge | This is a brilliant new idea. i am loking forward to playing it | 2000-03-17 09:24:31 | 0
bomb! | games | -1 | bomb! | I feel that this game is okay but I don't think it's in the fivestar rating | 2000-03-17 13:23:17 | 0
Core Wars | games | -1 | Core Wars | this game should have a little more stuff to do but because it sucks yes you heard me it sucks I will stop waisting my time | 2000-03-17 13:26:32 | 0
Liquid War | games | 3364 | Liquid War | This is simple but yet extremely fun and addictive game. It might seem a complex idea on the outside but you dont really need to understand it to play it. If it had networking support I would give it a full 5. (But dont worry: Splitscreen is still fun) | 2000-03-17 15:38:44 | 0
Xpuyopuyo | games | 1858 | Xpuyopuyo | Cute game. I couldn't see myself playing it every day, but it's cute and very well executed. <P> I wish there were a config file where we could specify where the executable goes. Hacking autoconfed Makefils is confusing to me. I'd prefer /usr/local/games to /usr/local/bin. <P> This game will definitely improve with some nice sound effects and music. | 2000-03-17 17:19:57 | 0
Core Wars | games | -1 | Core Wars | Hello? Core Wars isn't a game, it's a programming simulation. Sim-u-lay-shun. It's not gonna be fun unless you happen to -like- coding in assembler. | 2000-03-17 17:30:37 | 0
Pong 3D | games | 1858 | Pong 3D | Definitely a work in progress, but oddly enough, this has *potential*! (Is the background what I think it is? Right on!) <P> Some various comments:<BR> 1-kudos on 3dfx! Linux needs more 3dfx games. But some of the code is sloppy. For instance, the initializations for some arrays are larger than the array size. How is it this game doesn't segfault?!?<BR> 2- It would be nice to let the *user* define what right/left is, rather than forcing A/Z or O/P on us.<BR> 3- Kudos on the code to simulate putting English on the ball. Great job on that! But it seems like the ball doesn't really get any faster - you can conceivably play this game till you pass out from dehydration. The action is sluggish. After a few volleys, the ball needs to speed up.<BR> <P> Changing the angle of the screen is brilliantly done. This game definitely has some potential. Groovy sound/music and letting game play become more difficult with time would greatly enhance this game. | 2000-03-17 17:38:34 | 0
Pong 3D | games | 1858 | Pong 3D | Ach. Sorry to do this. One last suggestion. The author really should put a -v or --version command line option so I can compare what my current version to possible future releases. | 2000-03-17 17:41:31 | 0
Missile Command | games | 1858 | Missile Command | Can't get this puppy to run. <P> Make install is broken (at least on my suse 6.2 system). install has no -C option. I have install 3.16. <P> The program keeps complaining about 'ERROR: unable to read images'. What's the deal? I ran strace and don't understand which file it can't find. It seems to find them fine: <PRE> open("/usr/local/games/share/missile/smartbombmask.11x11.png", O_RDONLY) = 7 </PRE> and it later reads from this file. I wish the author put more more verbose error messages in. <P> I have the feeling this will be a cool game though. :-( | 2000-03-17 17:58:51 | 0
