Freeciv | games | -1 | Freeciv | well... I _love_ FreeCiv, but I just want tell, that it's NOT better than orginal Civilisation when you play it in single player mode - there is no diplomacy with AI! so please - you can tell, that it has great interface, great playablity in multiplayer, and great war AI, but don't tell it's better than real civ | 2000-02-25 00:53:44 | 0
The MJDRDM (The Meilleur Jeu De Role Du Meunde) | games | -1 | The MJDRDM (The Meil | hmm.. clanlib is one of the best game engines for linux that i've seen, and its gpl'd... not a "bloated proprietary" sdk.. | 2000-02-25 04:19:33 | 0
Unreal Tournament | games | -1 | Unreal Tournament | I was able to get the game installed without any real problem (except for the libglade and libxml files). When I try to start the game up it shows the splash screen fine, but when the game kicks over to run the intro my screen goes black. I have the latest glide drivers loaded and tested. Any help would rock! | 2000-02-25 10:46:54 | 0
LinWarrior 3D | games | 506 | LinWarrior 3D | Looks like this thing has some problems with gcc2.95, I couldn't build it out of the box:<br> <tt>objects.h:34: ANSI C++ forbids initialization of member `mMAX_PLANES' </tt><br> But that should be easy to fix. Some makefiles (autoconf/automake) would also be very helpfull, the current scripts suck badly. | 2000-02-25 12:42:02 | 0
Sabre | games | 506 | Sabre | The joystick support doesn't work and the graphics run at 320x200 slower than Flightgear at 640x480 (with hwaccl). So this game couldn't really motivate me to play it. | 2000-02-25 12:47:22 | 0
Quake 3 Arena | games | 2642 | Quake 3 Arena | Not bad, but there are some things I don't like: <OL> <LI>Everything feels like it was pumped up with caffeine. Even the animations look hyper, and the player movements look silly at this speed.</LI> <LI>The graphics are nice, but don't feel as solid as UT.</LI> <LI>The interface sucks.</LI> </OL> Q3A is a good deathmatch game, but not much else. UT is better in almost every way. | 2000-03-17 16:16:08 | 0
BZFlag | games | 2328 | BZFlag | Overall, very nice. Texturing for the tanks would perhaps be a minor thing to include, but it's not critical. One thing that I think is, though, is a timeout for finding or connecting to a server. Currently, if the network traffic is heavy, bzFlag just sits there waiting for a reply to its broadcasting. In extreme situations, this can actually cause the game to lock, and force me to CTRL-ALT-MINUS out of X. Something like a timeout of 60 seconds would help much here. | 2000-02-26 00:44:40 | 0
Roll 'm Up | games | -1 | Roll 'm Up | Awesome game. Great graphics, easy to control, fun. | 2000-02-26 00:47:55 | 0
Blocks | games | 3251 | Blocks | Wow, This game looks and plays like a god! Absolutly on my 10top games for linux. | 2000-02-26 12:40:34 | 0
The MJDRDM (The Meilleur Jeu De Role Du Meunde) | games | -1 | The MJDRDM (The Meil | I should calarify, the Clanlib SDK that this game uses is proprietery in its source (not source code) lanaguage... not the target language. SDKs are usually by defination proprietery in their source side. The problem comes up when there are too many SDK's out there and thus increasing the number of new source side languages. We need atleast one SDK with a Xlib style source side, this work is easilly done by creating an SDK but not creating a new source side language. But the problem with this perticular game is that the Clanlib that is required is missing some compoents and can't be compiled. | 2000-02-26 18:56:54 | 0
