The Penguin Machine games 3233 The Penguin Machine It is a _bit_ suspectible that one submits a screenshot from something other that it is intended to be... But if this game becomes at least half as good the original Incredible Machine, it is worth of getting three stars even in this phase of development. 2000-02-24 02:35:40 0
prboom games 3233 prboom The Doom As It Should Have Been in 1993 :) It works better than the Linux port of Doom Legacy, so go and try it! 2000-02-24 02:42:14 0

Xmame games -1 Xmame One question.... I've scoured all around and _where_ is 36b16 ?? Its not on the home page. Its not on any of the usual ftp sites.. Did someone jump the gun? 2000-02-24 13:26:52 0
Xmame games -1 Xmame I'm thinking that someone jumped the gun, indeed. I sent out the bloodhounds too, and can't fine b16 either... Isn't it funny how, with 1900+ games, the one you want to try out is the one that's in the "next release". <grin> Oh well. Hopefully the update will get posted soon. 2000-02-24 13:45:02 0

Freeciv games 971 Freeciv This game is simply the be-all and end-all of strategy game playing. Play it. Now. :-) <p> Here's a quick estimate of how good it is: Civilization II was rightly given the highest rating of all time by PC Gamer. This game is better than Civilization II. <p> As to the interface -- despite the comment below, FreeCiv's interface simply kicks CivII's all over the map. It's not as *pretty* -- there are no talking emissaries, no council of advisors, and no wonder-of-the-world movies -- but it's much, much better thought out and much more usable. For example, CivII popped up an annoying modal window at the beginning of each turn so you could see what had been built; after you had done so, the messages vanished. Freeciv can collect these messages into a single unobtrusive window that you can view and review at your leisure. CivII required you to shepherd each city individually; Freeciv lets you lay out worklists for cities and change whole swaths of cities from producing one item to producing another. Etc, etc, ad nauseum. <p> Daniel 2000-02-24 20:40:28 0
