| 2098 | Doom Legacy | games | -1 | Doom Legacy | The software mode looks ok, but what is the deal with the acceleration?!! I ran it in openGL mode, and it wouldn't even load. Enough of 3dfx already! I have a TNT2- based card, and I'm happy with it and I don't want to waste more money on a stupid Voodoo card! How about support for Nvidia? Is that too much to ask? | 2000-02-07 19:07:15 | 0 |
| 2099 | Heroes of Might and Magic 3 | games | -1 | Heroes of Might and | One word: awesome. :-)

Can't wait for the Linux version map editor... | 2000-02-07 22:18:58 | 0 |

| 2101 | Real Time Battle | games | 3150 | Real Time Battle | I've been looking for a game like this for ages, and it seems like I've found what I'm looking for. All that's lacking now is network support. | 2000-02-08 08:18:38 | 0 |

| 2103 | SSnake - SuperSnake | games | 1858 | SSnake - SuperSnake | Just what Linux needs--another snake game. wow.
the only thing cool about this game is that it uses SVGAlib and SDL soundlib, but the author completely drops the ball. SVGAlib graphics should be exciting. eye catching. the graphics here are so primitive that i can't justify playing this game over the text version. the author REALY needs to re-evaluate his graphics, or else rip out all references to SVGAlib completely and make it into a text game.
the changing colour background is more than annoying. it sometimes hides the snake (which ain't too bad since you can change the snake colour) and the target, which is bad because then you have no idea where the target is. game over, dude. game over.
the sound didn't work on my system. i suspect it has to do with the fact that some SDL things broke when the library went to 1.0. i suspect the author wrote this game in the pre 1.0 days, but i could be completely off on that.
since the game is versioned at something like 1.0, the author doesn't have much on his TODO list. so: if you want to look at the source to see how SVGAlib is used, this is a useful game. otherwise, i'd pass it up. one last comment - game authors don't inspire gamers by calling them 'losers' (what this game prints when you get a bad score). the only thing it inspires is rm -rf Snake/
2 stars because i enjoy looking at source. | 2000-02-08 15:31:26 | 0 |
| 2104 | Silmar | games | -1 | Silmar | This game (at least, the latest version) kicks the crap out of Crossfire, hands down. No contest. | 2000-02-09 12:47:58 | 0 |
| 2107 | Silmar | games | -1 | Silmar | I downloaded Crossfire to compare it with my game, and I think the naysayer below has to be joking. The latest version of Silmar is a much better-playing, much more fun game. Give it a try and compare it for yourself! It's free for now if you'd like to be an alpha tester.
