Primrose Jason Rohrer (independet) www www More screenshots www App Store 3 A captivating tile-clearing puzzle game
A game that bucks the copycat match-3 fad and presents a deep puzzle that is completely fresh. Primrose's gameplay is deceptively simple: You're given random pairs of coloured tiles that you must place on a 7x7 grid. When you surround a group of one colour with another colour, the surrounded group clears, scoring points. The surrounding tiles flip to the colour of the tiles that were cleared. When tiles flip color, chain reactions are possible. Larger groups and longer chain reactions are awarded more points. As the game progresses, more colours are added to the pool, making the grid more and more constrained. Pressure builds until the grid finally fills up, and the game ends. Despite this mounting pressure, the game doesn't have a frantic feel, because you have as much time as you want to make each move. Primrose derives deep challenge from inherent properties of its core mechanics, not from time pressure or other external gimmicks. The game also features a world-wide online high score board complete with instant replay, move-by-move, of all top-scoring games. puzzle free $2.99 (iPhone version) img on on off on off off 2009-03-05 4 2009-03-06 23:47:41 29936 www SDL and OpenGL development libraries are needed to compile Primrose. 0000-00-00 00:00:00 on
Privateer Gemini Gold The Gemini Gold Team - www 1.03 Remake of Wing Commander Privateer
Many of us experienced Privateer in the early 90's, the engaging space piracy and trading game that captured us with mystery and challenges.
Some contemporary efforts tried bringing back the Privateer joy of years past, but all have been limited by the blocky 320x200 pixel art in the game. The competing Privateer Gemini Gold has just released a new Open Source Privateer to all platforms with the inflight and ground art redone at 800x600 as well as with all the familiar controls that were baked into the base scenes and immersed the player in the scenes.
Just like the original, you start poor, with an old scout class ship in a sparsely populated system in the Gemini Sector. As usual, you must try to get money through various mission assignments from which you can purchase better ships and upgrades. It's your choice how to explore Gemini and align with the various factions, earn your money as a merchant, bounty hunter, traitor or pirate. Meet Sandoval in a bar on New Detroit and talk to him to trigger the original campaign and the newer Righteous Fire expansion. simulation free img on on off on off off 2005-07-24 4 2005-08-29 12:55:58 -1 www 2009-12-28 10:01:08 on
Privateer Remake www Privateer Remake www www Discussion Forums www Screen Shots 1.2 A remake of Privateer using VegaStrike Privateer is a classic old DOS game in the tradition of Elite, where you start off with a beat up spaceship and a couple credits and you have to trade and work your way up. Gameplay is free-form, there is a plotline but you can choose to ignore plot missions for as long as you want. Random mission generators give you plenty to keep you occupied if you just want to do your own thing. This is a pretty faithful remake of Privateer using the VegaStrike space sim framework, but with OpenGL graphics, new missions, more fixers, and the ablility to extend the game and add more content. The Privateer Remake crew is currently looking for some Linux users to test out their game. simulation free img on on off on on on 2004-12-21 6457 2004-12-21 08:14:17 6651 www OpenGL with hardware acceleration Joystick in /dev/js0 (make a symbolic link from /dev/input/js0) 2005-07-19 02:51:09 on
Privateer: Ascii Sector Christian Knudsen www www Download 64-bit version www Download music 0.7.1.3 Roguelike variant of Wing Commander: Privateer
Privateer: Ascii Sector is a 100% free space combat/exploration/trading game for Windows, Mac OS X and Linux. You start with a simple spaceship and can then accept missions or trade goods to earn enough money to upgrade your ship or buy a new one. The game offers a wide variety of missions, commodities and ships -- a lot more than the original Wing Commander: Privateer, on which this game is based.
You can engage in deadly fights both in space and on the ground, and using the Privateer: Ascii Sector quest language, you can create your own stories in the Ascii Sector universe, or have fun with other players' stories.
What sets this game apart from most others is its 'graphics'. Privateer: Ascii Sector uses only ASCII characters in 16 different colors to present its environments. This might take some getting used to for most players, but it also means that the game's single designer and programmer can concentrate on gameplay instead of fancy graphics. Check out the screenshots to see how the game looks. action free img off on off off off off 2008-10-08 4 2008-10-08 19:35:44 31819 www sdl
sdl_mixer 2011-04-18 16:49:21 on
