If you are THAT concerned about your computer, don`t have it connected to anything (including the power). The game needs to be run as root because i have taken time to write quite fast low-level graphics and sound routines. I can`t stand using other peoples crappy libraries which are slow and cumbersome, when i can code low-level and access hardware directly myself, plus you don`t need coutless other libs (like most games on Linux, which is just plain infuriating trying to get all the latest versions of everything).
