Founts | games | -1 | Founts | I could have sworn I just saw a link to a $39 commercial version of this same thing, let me check...yep, there it is. That's ridiculous. What idiot would pay for this when it's free elsewhere? I guess it takes all kinds... Not a bad little program, though. I always like little toys like this, and you can only find this kind of stuff in Linux. (Yet another thing against Macro$oft...;) | 2000-01-02 01:10:27 | 0
3D Pong | games | -1 | 3D Pong | This is the cheapest cheap entertainment I've ever seen. I have to say, I'm surprised that anyone still bothers with Pong. Don't take that as a complaint; I love cheap entertainment. This is one of those things that proves that you never outgrow toys. | 2000-01-02 01:23:36 | 0
Sabre | games | -1 | Sabre | Not a bad simulator. Perhaps mission packs could be made? In any case, I can only complain about the fact that I have no joystick in Linux. Does anyone know how to get that to work? | 2000-01-02 01:26:25 | 0

ADOM | games | 2911 | ADOM | When I was a kid I played the game 'hack'. It was good. Then a virus destroyed it. Enter the time of darkness. After a few years, I had internet, and hunted it down, but instead of ahck, I found Nethack, and was much impressed. Nethack was still a text-only version at this point. A while later Nethack 3.2.2 came out (I think) with graphic tiles, and it ruled. Then, one day when searching for other RPG games, I came upon ADOM, and after a couple weeks of learning how to play it, I was hopelessly addicted. That was about one year ago, and I still can't stop playing it. Haven't played Nethack even once since then, ADOM has a real *plot*! It's amazing, hehe, and you can be really, really evil, or totally lawful -- a very nice touch. Long live ADOM! | 2000-01-02 13:27:23 | 0
Amphetamine | games | -1 | Amphetamine | From Downwater. I did IT ! I've finished Amphetamine !! But i've noticed some bugs in Amphetamine, like this one : just after jumping to a way, the hero is sometimes stopped by "invisible wall", and he must fall back to try again... Some ways are very too hard to be crossed, like the first "lava access" or the final swimm (the information item says "swimm fast is healthy")... Good luck to finish this psychotic game ! | 2000-01-03 06:14:22 | 0

Unreal Tournament | games | -1 | Unreal Tournament | I find this whole thing stupid and ridiculous. Pathetic installation scripts and very little support for hardware (let alone necessary software) are all that I've seen with commercial ports of games like this. What is the deal with that?! It's not that hard to make a decent install and maybe even include some of the software necessary to run the game, so why don't these developers do that? I've seen better installation routines on software that people developed as a hobby and gave away for free. This is what holds Linux back so badly: developers are barely willing to make the executables for their games available for Linux users. I haven't even seen one for the original Unreal. Then they make it so that the user has to do do everything to make the game work. Pretty sad, considering that they stand to save a lot of time and money that would otherwise be wasted trying to make their software work around Windows bugs. | 2000-01-03 19:24:17 | 0
