Unix Racer | games | 2642 | Unix Racer | An interesting game-toy sorta thing. I suppose this would've appealed to me more when I was stuck with text-mode (back in the days when a Banshee card didn't work with X). It would have gotten 4 stars from me, except it's waaaay to easy to crash, because the symbol representing your car tricks your eyes into thinking it's smaller than it really is. Ah well... | 1999-12-17 23:47:15 | 0
NetHack | games | -1 | NetHack | Use the "number_pad" option to use your numberpad. It's a truly awesome game, but READ THE DOCUMENTATION! NetHack genuinely wants to tell you the rules -- it makes it more sporting. Read the Guidebook, use the "?" option, and use the "/" to ask about items and weapons -- it has an awful lot to say. Good luck... | 1999-12-18 02:03:37 | 0
Maelstrom | games | 2804 | Maelstrom | excellent. | 1999-12-18 11:37:13 | 0
State of Mind | games | 2842 | State of Mind | This is an amazing demo - I haven't seen many of these, but this one completely knocked me back. One thing to note, I'm running SuSE 6.2 (glibc2.1), the libc6 wouldn't work ( error in loading shared libraries: ./mind_c6: undefined symbol: __srandom) but the libc5 worked perfectly thanks to the older libs being installed. Must try it out fullscreen wih the volume fully whacked up! | 1999-12-18 12:21:00 | 0
3D Pong | games | 2642 | 3D Pong | I think it's safe to say this is the best Pong game ever. ;-) It's quite cool, especially with 3D glasses. The computer opponent is a bit dippy at times, but other than that, this is an excellent time-waster. | 1999-12-18 13:20:56 | 0
A Steroid | games | 2846 | A Steroid | This is by far the most bitchin' asteroids game I've ever played, especially on my lowly P200MMX. It is also one of the best games on Linux besides Quake. Please, tell everyone about it! | 1999-12-18 19:44:09 | 0
XShipWars | games | -1 | XShipWars | (from WolfPack): 99.9% of your XSW questions can be answered on the FAQ or asking on the XSW list, see http://fox.mit.edu/xsw/contacts.htm for info! Remmeber that XShipWars is a game system, not a game in itself. You need to create your universe, vessels, planets, empires, theme, aim, etc. Much like a MUD. There are many universe already built out there, just remember to ask your questions on the XSW list! :) | 1999-12-18 19:50:06 | 0
XBill | games | 2848 | XBill | Whoever made this game diserves a medal!!! | 1999-12-18 22:16:55 | 0
XSnow | games | 2642 | XSnow | We don't normally get much snow in my area, and this year because of all that La Nina junk, there's no chance of a white Christmas at all. xsnow is the next best thing, I guess. :-) Reminds me of a similar program I had for Windoze 3.1 years ago... | 1999-12-19 14:28:43 | 0
Quake 3 Arena | games | -1 | Quake 3 Arena | An utterly cool game, my Linux version's fps are even slightly better than those I get under win98. I still have a major problem: when logged in as normal user, the framerate is somewhere around 1 or 2??? Yehess, I have dev3dfx, and UT is running smoothly, too. | 2000-03-17 16:16:08 | 0
