Up to four players control their
character around a single screen of
obstacles, trying to destroy each other
with bombs.
<p>
Not to be confused with <a href="/show?XBomber">"XBomber"</a>, (see? this one has a hyphen in its name!) another Bomberman clone with nearly the same name. |

<a href="http://www.linuxgames.com">Linuxgames.com</a> mentions two game projects this morning that I wasn't previously aware of:
<ul>
<li><a href="http://blackholesun.com/">Millenium Madness</a>, a 3D driving game from (apparently) the same people who brought us <a href="/show?Terroid">Terroid</a>, a pretty nice space shoot-em-up. Their web site says they're looking for beta testers, so check it out if you're interested.
<li><a href="http://www.realtech.scene.org/spacegirl/spacegirl.html">Space Girl</a>, an OpenGL arcade game. There's a Win32 demo of this game available now, but I haven't had a chance to look at it yet. Precious little other information about the game is available on their website. <em>(Update: thanks to <a href="mailto:Michael_B._Litherland@FirstEnergyCorp.com">Mike Litherland</a> for wasting time at work to find a better URL for this game)</em>
</ul>
Although neither offers us anything to download yet, there are two more potentially cool games to look forward to. |

K|L|A|C|K gives you the command over a green sphere (You control it via ONE key - visit the page to see how). Your mission is to use this shpere to make a yellow sphere run into a blue sphere (giving you a point) while avoiding it from hitting a red sphere (which makes you lose a point). Sounds easy? Try. |

Because the release of the Windows version of Civilization:Call To Power has been pushed back to March 31, <a href="http://www.lokisoft.com">Loki Software</a> has delayed the release of the Linux version accordingly in order to incorporate all of the last minute changes that went into the final Windows version. Civ:CTP for Linux is now expected to ship April 26. Gosh, now I've got even more time to put off writing my review of the beta... |

<a href="http://slashdot.org">Slashdot.org</a> has posted a pointer to a <a href="http://linuxworld.com/linuxworld/lw-1999-03/lw-03-penguin2.html">LinuxWorld article about Linux gaming</a>. The author talks about Why Games Are Good(duh), Where Games Are Going(online), and What Linux Needs To Be A Viable Gaming Platform(a stable game API with <em>support for a wide range of 3D, sound and controller hardware</em>; an IP gaming API). It's a good article. Take a look. When you're done reading, I also recommend that you return to Slashdot and <a href="http://slashdot.org/articles/99/03/27/1422217.shtml">read the comments</a>. There's some pretty good stuff there as well. |

<em>Description:</em> A Linux port of Raven Software's popular doom-engine game<p>
The Linux Heretic port is moving toward completion. Here's what's new in the 1.0 beta:
<ul>
<li>Music support via the lxdoom-musserver and a updated soundclient (Now music works with standart OPL3, Midi-wavetable and
AWE32-Midi (sounds great))
<li>several network fixes (IPX and UDP) - now it would be displayed if a player
quits a game
<li>Heretic now works an a Netwinder (ARM) and on a SCO-Unix
machine (happy Sysadmins :-))
<li>some new graphic-feautures like linear and bilinear filtering within
all graphic targets (X11/GGI/VGA)
<li>fastX11 - a new graphic-target has been written, but it works only on
x86 machines yet -> it doubles the fps-speed against the x11 target even
in truecolor-mode !

<em>Description:</em>A fantastic arcade game emulator.<p>
There's not much new stuff in this release. Here's the changelog:
<ul>
<li>Everything from msdos b8.
<li>Note about history.dat:
The new dos-release uses a file called history.dat to display some
nice background info on games. Unfortunatly the location of
history.dat is hardcoded into the core as just history.dat in the
current working directory. Thus if you want to use it you need to
start xmame in the dir where history.dat resides or at least create
a shell script which cd's into this dir before executing xmame.
