<a href="mailto:crusader@linuxgames.com">Crusader</a> at <a href="http://www.linuxgames.com">linuxgames.com</a> has put up some screenshots and his initial impressions of the <a href="http://www.lokisoft.com/civ.html"></em>Civilization:Call To Power</em></a> beta. <a href="http://www.linuxgames.com/index.shtml#Civilization: CTP Beta Screenshots">Check it out</a> if you're interested.
<p>
Now that I'm done with my Real Job for the week, I've finally got time to sit down and check out the beta myself. Hopefully I'll be able to post my own review here by the end of the weekend.

BoboBot is a one-player side view game for X11. It uses Sam Lantinga's excellent SDL library and SDL mixer to provide sound effects and music under Linux. It also supports joystick controls.
<p>
Eight levels. Eight bosses. Eight cool weapons. Lots of bananas.

<em>Description:</em> Pingus is a Lemmings-like game for Linux.<p>
The Pingus class has been completely rewritten to make it easier to create new pingu types. The design isn't perfect, but better then before. Therefore most actions are gone and the pingus are no longer animated. They will be reimplemented in the next release.
There are now an entrance and an exit (not working correct) in the level,
both of them are not very well painted.
There is now a simple script in the source dir, which makes it easier to
run pingus called "run_pingus.sh"
At the moment I am having some throuble to compile ClanLib, but this is AFAIK
a
misstake in my system include files, not ClanLibs fault, therefore I hadn't a
chance to try to patch ClanLib.
Next week I hope to get the new Debian 2.1 and fix my Linux installation, so
that I am able again to compile ClanLib.

AisleRiot is a generic, extensible solitaire engine. It has over 25 games at this point, and more are being added constantly. The solitaire game part is scripted in Scheme allowing for easy addition of new games. |

IRE is an attempt to create a cross-platform computer role-playing-game engine similar to Ultima 6.
The engine is open-source. At present there is no official license, but I will decide on one soon.
<p>
The engine runs in 640x480 at 15bpp or 16bpp. It is controlled by scripts written in C and compiled into interpreted code for extra portability. |

You grab gems (up to 10) of the same
color and use them to knock more gems
off the screen. Match 3 or more of the
same color in a column and BAM! they
explode! Any ajdacent gems of the same
color also explode, causing a chain

Like the original "Missile Command" and
its clones, this game places you in
control of Anti-ICBM weapons which you
use to destroy an onslaught of missiles
(and other nasties) which are dropping
onto your nation.
