Unreal Tournament Demo client games 2497 Unreal Tournament De Ahh, at last! I must admit I was worried when I first read the comments of one of Epic's stuffed-shirts stating that there would be no Linux client for UT because there just weren't enough gamers running Linux. Besides the statement being downright asinine, it hardly helps the cause does it? After all, perhaps the reason there aren't enough gamers running Linux is that there aren't enough games (aside from id's Quake games for which I'm grateful). Granted, the average Linux user didn't go to Linux for games, but just because we're power geeks doesn't mean we aren't interested in the odd frag fest. Fortunately, Brandon Reinhart, aka GreenMarine, came along and saved us from having to run UT in Wine or, gasp! reboot to Windows for a very enjoyable game. I won't contribute to the current Q3A vs. UT debate because, IMHO they both have their good and bad points and both have the potential to be great multiplayer games. I will say, however, the multiplayer aspect of UT is far beyond the disappointment experienced on its predecessor, Unreal. The various games offer nice variety and the bots are well done. I have yet to progress beyond the 'Skilled' bots myself. As for the Linux port itself, sure there are bugs, Reinhart admitted as much and warned us duly. Once again, what do you expect from what is essentially beta code? I admit I was one of the SBLive users caught off guard by lock-ups using said card, but I'm not surprised considering the rather poor beta drivers for the Live (please hurry Creative). Aside from that, UT Linux has been very smooth for me aside from the occasional core dump on exit. In all, thanks again go to GreenMarine for his fast and overall, quality work. 1999-10-21 22:58:06 0

Unreal Tournament Demo client games 2499 Unreal Tournament De At the present, this probably represents the pinnacle of commercial linux games. I have had no trouble running it whatsoever. Owerall a very polished effort and definitely a challenegr to Quake III. Kudos to Epic. 1999-10-22 03:02:34 0
psDoom games -1 psDoom I loved the idea. I can't wait to try it out. I think I will write up ways you can visualize a lot of admin, and can access the consaole from it too. That would be weird. Turining it ALL into a big game 1999-10-22 18:33:52 0
psDoom games -1 psDoom This is actually kind of fun. Be ware, though, of the SVGALIB version. It compiles fine, no complaints, and plays just fine. However, one of the processes will be the svgalib wrapper...and if you kill it...you've hung the machine. You'll lose input devices, then and there. Watch that. On a happier note, a group of programmers I know are working on a QuakeII version of this self same thing. Wish us luck! mithee@internetland.net 1999-10-22 18:36:17 0
psDoom games -1 psDoom Based on this code, I wrote a version that allows you to remotely "adminster" a windows(95|99|NT) box. Processes are spawned and killed just like this version. Only you play on linux and destroy some other Windows box. http://www.geocities.com/doomhack/ Joe. 1999-10-22 19:45:40 0
Unreal Tournament Demo client games 212 Unreal Tournament De Absolutly a great game. If there is a contender for Quake 3: Arena, this is probably it. The only other game that may top either one of these is Team Fortress 2..... The use of many colors and a more techy feel (Rather than Q3A's gothic feel) made this game a refreshing change..... 1999-10-22 23:49:08 0

Unreal Tournament Demo client games -1 Unreal Tournament De The LINUX client is great. On my P2/26 ist runs under linux ~5-10fps faster than under windows. This game so much better than q3a..... 1999-10-23 10:04:10 0
