| 13435 | Spacewar | games | 2328 | Re: hmm this confuses me | Well, these are all clones of the original SPACEWAR, which was written in 1961 by, I believe, Steve Russel, a grad student of John McCarthy (creator of Lisp). So, really, debates about authorship of Spacewar are pretty moot. :-) | 2003-08-26 01:00:03 | 13407 |

| 13437 | Spacewar | games | 8477 | Re: hmm this confuses me | Note that the full name of the game is spacewar-sdl.
Besides, I didn't know of the original game until i submitted it to sourceforge and googled for the name (finding it very likely that someone else came up with the name 'spacewar'). That's why I called it spacewar-sdl.
And, I did not make this game as a spacewar clone. It might be one, but since i never seen the original game, I really don't know how it is.
The last thing, the idea behind spacewar-sdl. I don't think that an idea like spacewar is very unique. It shouldn't be strange is one writes such a game and someone else also does - the idea is so simple!
My point is that I did not know of the original spacewar when I started writing, and that that isn't strange that it seems like a clone since it is a very simple idea that everyone can come up with.
| 2003-08-26 05:35:43 | 13435 |

Load "dbe" # Double buffer extension # This loads the miscellaneous extensions module, and disables # initialisation of the XFree86-DGA extension within that module. SubSection "extmod" Option "omit xfree86-dga" # don't initialise the DGA extension EndSubSection # This loads the Type1 and FreeType font modules Load "type1" Load "speedo" # Load "freetype" # Load "xtt" # This loads the GLX module Load "glx" # This loads the DRI module Load "dri" the last part isn't commented out, by default from xf86config it is.....then run glxinfo to verify direct rendering = yes | 2003-08-26 07:41:25 | 12316 |
