13317 SDL-Toms games 4512 Re: SDL Header files are hardcoded Huh?
In my makefile, I see the line:
INC= -I. `sdl-config --cflags`
So your comments are rather confusing to me. Perhaps I changed the makefile since I made the release, but I don't think I did... Could it be perhaps you have an old copy of sdl-config hanging around that's mucking stuff up?
True, I did hardcode some paths in the "windist" target, but that's designed for me to easily package up cross-compiled binary versions for windows, and anyone else wanting to do those themselves shouldn't be scared of getting their hands a bit dirty there. So that doesn't really count. 2003-08-21 19:11:45 13315
13318 SDL-Toms games 4512 Re: SDL Header files are hardcoded OH, hold on. Damn, I really wish that happypenguin.org showed the comments you're replying to on the page whilst you're writing the replies. It'd make things a lot easier. Seriously.
So yeah, now I realise you're talking about the files in Makefile.dep. That's not a matter of using sdl-config, it's a matter of firstly, me having a pre-generated Makefile.dep to make things marginally easier for some cases (if it's wrong, you can just do "make depend" yourself), and secondly, I included the SDL headers using #include "theheaders.h" rather than #include <theheaders.h>.
The function that makes Makefile.dep is supposed to leave out system headers, which it determines by them using the angle brackets. My bad.
So yeah, the answer is: The next release will do that properly (I've fixed it already), and meanwhile you can use "make depend" to fix the problem (for anyone it affects). Apologies for my misunderstanding. 2003-08-21 19:27:34 13317

13322 Urban Terror games -1 Nice graphic, bad realism, bad bots I've tried both version 2 and 3, and I'm not really impressed by either. Mainly because I was especting a realism mod.
OK, the game play is good when there are human players. But the fact that death doesn't mean much brings the excitment down quite a bit. The area dammage works great when you shoot at the head of people not wearing helmet and chest of people not wearing body armor.
I hated the fact that you can't shoot through walls but at least grenade explosion dammage doesn't travel through walls like in CS.
I love the fact that you can jump at the edge of walls and climb on it but the fact that you can jump on top of a box that's as tall as you just brings the realism out.
Some maps looked very good and well designed. And the explosion of bomb mode is very impressive.
The player models are ugly. Counter-Strike's player model looks so much better in comparison. Also the player movements look odd when you aim or shoot, your posture looks exactly the same as when you run. When other players look up and down, you see their whole upper body bent etc. The steps you take while running are way too small and too fast.
The bots are really stupid. You can easily kill an entire enemie squad (Nightmare level) if they are running around shooting at your teammate's dead body (while killing each other as well)
In my opinion, CS, ET and even RtCW still beats Urban Terror. 2003-08-22 00:09:16 0

13324 aBridge games -1 One question aBridge is a very nice game, but do you really have to connect to a server to be able to play against A.I. players? I mean it would be nice to be able to play the game against computer _offline_ sometimes (most of the time). Otherwise, I like this game very much, I would give it 3-4 stars. 2003-08-22 02:19:12 0
