Neverball | games | -1 | we need a tiltometer | an excellent game for a first-run! I would like to suggest a widget that shows in 2D how the world axis is tilted. sometimes it's really hard to tell by just the world itself. great job | 2003-08-16 17:28:33 | 0
Kirellii Starshiptraders (SST) Graphical Client | games | 4512 | Re: This game has more than text! | Hi, I've been having a look at this, but I've just ended up really confused. <P>Is this a new client you've written for someone elses already existing online game, or is all the game your own one? Are there command-line options to choose different display settings (such as not being fullscreen)? <P>One time the game started and I couldn't find any obvious way of doing anything. The next time I tried, and I seemed to get instantly prompted for a username or something and I couldn't quit at all (plus the game seemed to become very unresponsive)., so I had to kill the process from an xterm, which was a PITA. <P>Often, one of my gripes with free software is lack of documentation, but nobody could charge you with that- I saw the online manual!! But it doesn't seem to have the basic info I'm looking for anywhere obvious, and it'd be nice to have something along with the download, like a little readme file. Certainly more than just a .c file for source, or an archive containing just one binary. <P>I'd be interested to hear more about this, anyways. | 2003-08-16 18:01:32 | 13225
Windstille | games | 4512 | Windstille | When I saw the update on this news, I remembered seeing it a few times on Grumbel's "games to make" page. Then I looked and realised I'd actually commented previously, a year ago now!<P> Well, now there's some actual code to look at, but then I realised that (like Pingus) it needs Clanlib, which I've still no intention of installing. But it has a statically-linked binary! So I got that. <P>Shame it needs a newer version of Libc than I've got, too. Oh well. Good luck the project anyways, Grumbel. | 2003-08-16 18:21:46 | 0

Windstille | games | 506 | Re: Windstille | Yep, the libc issue sucks really quite a bit. The problem is that I have no idea how to fix it, as soon as I link statically to libc the game instantly crashes on startup (somewhere in dlopen, not in my code), linking dynamically to libc on the other side causes problems with older libcs which are still pretty widespread. One workaround would be to link with on older libc, but I haven't really found out how I could integrade that cleanly into the build process. | 2003-08-17 04:37:31 | 13257
Pingus | games | -1 | YIPPEEEEEEEEEEE!!! | This is the best problem-solving game that I have played! Thanks a lot! Right now I am feeling kind of ashamed 'cause I can't get past the 21st level in 0.6.0. Could someone please help me? hsf2431/2 | 2003-08-17 05:48:14 | 0
