| 13171 | Neverball | games | -1 | Re: problems with optical mouse? | thanks a lot for your help!
i checked my framerate.. it begins to flicker when the fps counter drops below some 12 fps. using the lower quality textures, i was able to make the game playable [on an Athlon850/ATI Rage 128], except for some of the more complex levels (e.g. level 3)
how about a switch for turning off texturing/lighting/.. completely? (i know, my pc s***s, but anyway.) | 2003-08-12 12:56:15 | 13170 |
| 13172 | Slickworm | games | -1 | Re: doesn't compile | You need the a recent CVS version of OpenAL. I get the same error with that version which is the newest in portage. Alteratively you can use ./configure --enable-sound="no" | 2003-08-12 13:06:39 | 13162 |
| 13173 | Slickworm | games | -1 | Re: doesn't compile | Since you use gentoo, I bet this stuff will help you.
openal-cvs ebuild
slickworm ebuild
To use these edit your /etc/make.conf and uncomment the PORTDIR_OVERLAY line.
Put the openal-cvs ebuild in /usr/local/portage/media-libs/openal-cvs/ and run "ebuild openal-cvs-20030807.ebuild digest" in that directory.
Put the slickworm ebuild in /usr/local/portage/app-games/slickworm/ and run "ebuild slickworm-0.2.0.ebuild digest" in that directory.

Now, emerge openal-cvs and emerge slickworm. | 2003-08-12 14:49:19 | 13162 |

| 13175 | Neverball | games | 8316 | Re: problems with optical mouse? | That seems to be the consensus. Once you get down to about 10 FPS it becomes unplayable. You can maybe make it work on levels 1 and 2, but 3 is gonna kill you. I'm afraid I haven't been able to reproduce this effect given the hardware available to me. I do test it on a variety of machines, the least of which is a 1GHz P3 with a GeForce2, so guess I have to declare this to be the minimum supported configuration. | 2003-08-12 15:25:22 | 13171 |

| 13177 | Atomic Tanks | games | -1 | Looks like a fun one | I might have to try this, I love scorched earth type games, they are nice relaxing games for when solitaire is a bit too wimpy, but when you aren't up to something like Jagged Alliance II! OMG is JA2 great, IMHO it is the best Linux game ever! | 2003-08-12 17:10:39 | 0 |
