12972 Scorched 3D games -1 Re: compile Version 2.96 I think here. And I installed a couple of the Wx .rpms. Both the base and the one that says "gl" presuming it uses OpenGl somehow? I dunno. It's not even close to compiling. checking build system type... i686-pc-linux-gnu checking host system type... i686-pc-linux-gnu checking target system type... i686-pc-linux-gnu ./configure: line 1260: syntax error near unexpected token `scorched3d,' ./configure: line 1260: `AM_INIT_AUTOMAKE(scorched3d, 0.33.9)' 2003-08-03 19:48:21 12954
12973 Adventure Game Biege games 4512 biege? Interesting name... It's interesting to see projects like this suddenly appear fully formed, apparently out of nowhere. It's so complete it doesn't even need a version number ;)
I was rather expecting the thing wouldn't work with my JRE, but it seems to. Unfortunately, a few problems:
- When you restart, it seems the window decides to halve in size. Annoying, but at least I can resize it again myself.
- I couldn't find any way to quit, so had to do ^C in the terminal.
- Most importantly, the reason I wanted to quit: some stupid problem with the controls. My character always seems to end up stuck moving in a certain direction (mostly right, but I've had it stuck going left too). Possibly some problem with not flushing the keyboard buffer? I haven't a clue. But it leaves it pretty much impossible to play.
BTW, it seems that 8 megs of the 14 meg directory tree is made up of MOD or MIDI style music rendered into WAV files??? Is Java not up to the job of running a mod tracker in realtime or something? 2003-08-03 19:52:28 0
12974 Scorched 3D games -1 Question: Any debs or rpms? 2003-08-03 21:01:58 0
12975 Scorched 3D games 4063 Re: Ow Hmmm. Further investigation...
I binned the Mandrake wxwindows RPMs and rebuilt the wxGTK+ 2.4.1 Source RPM available on the wxwindows site. That solved the missing wxBitmapButton headers.
That also solves the missing wxwin.m4 problem where you getting the missing AM Macros. So if you see:

aclocal: configure.ac: 79: macro `AM_OPTIONS_WXCONFIG' not found in library aclocal: configure.ac: 80: macro `AM_PATH_WXCONFIG' not found in library

then you need to upgrade/install the latest wxwindows packages.
Further tinkering - if you are getting a ton of messages about Makefile.am: not supported source file 'blah' not in subdirectory then you are using a version of automake which is 1.4 or older and you need to upgrade to 1.6 or more recent. Mandrake Cooker is still stuck at 1.4 so I'm trying to build 1.6 as I type...
Dammit! I'll get this thing working if it kills me! 2003-08-03 21:02:33 12950

12979 Duke Nukem 3d games -1 Re: Sound and mouse issues Thanks for the post about NumBits 16! Before I did that the sound was terrible. Now it is perfect. Now the linux version is better than the original Windows version, because it doesn't need the Atomic Edition CD in the drive to run. 2003-08-04 03:55:33 10154

12982 Eternal Lands games -1 Re: promising but... Yes, but that would give an unfair advantage to the veterans (which will afford to spend much more money on various potions, to increase their stamina/energy), so they will be able to run all the time, leveling up even more, chasing newbies, etc. We have some problems ballancing the game as it is, adding more factors will make things even more complicated. Maybe later on. 2003-08-04 08:24:25 12978
