FooBillard | games | 506 | Well done | Graphic looks good, physics also seem to be ok, sound is there as well and good. The whole userinterface is a bit non-intuitive, to much shift-clicks and such, a few on-screen GUI buttons could help here a lot. Zoom and rotates also have too much of a smooth roll out, makes feel spongy and difficult to position precisely. The F1-help takes a bit long until it shows up, I guess its regenerated on each display. There are also quite a few options that are hidden in the menu that shows up on Escape-press, that menu is pretty ugly and chumbersome to navigate through and doesn't give much hint on what the option really do and doesn't ask for confirmation if one changes the game mode. Overall look pretty promising, but a userinterface cleanup/rewrite is needed sooner or later. | 2003-08-01 09:24:54 | 0
Adventure Game Biege | games | -1 | I like it | I like anything that tries to be Zeldaish. I sort of like the game, but I didn’t find a home page except for the sourceforge project page. | 2003-08-01 12:45:48 | 0
Porrog | games | 4512 | display bug | Yeek! I've never seen this whatsoever. Can you send me details of what system you're seeing that on? If it isn't on Linux, what OS; if it is Linux, which versions of the Glibc and ncurses devel libs you've got. <P>Oh yeah, and if there seems to be some particular time when it happens, that'd help to know- looking back at my code, it really really really shouldn't happen. You certain you're not mistaking some other character for another '@'? <P>Thanks Sirp for the report. | 2003-08-01 17:09:06 | 12915
Torcs | games | -1 | More Torcs please | "Please sir, can I have some more?"<BR><BR> I like this game - would like to see the next evolution of it also. More graphics optimizations, better handling, more tracks, etc. More of the same. It's a pretty cool game, but nothing has happened for a while. Me looking forward to the next dose.<BR><BR> Please use something other than Glut for the Full Screen mode, as it is unplayable with the mouse. | 2003-08-01 17:35:28 | 0
Scorched 3D | games | 7503 | Well.... | ...I'll be buggered if I can get it to compile :( | 2003-08-01 18:57:38 | 0
Scorched 3D | games | -1 | I did... | I got it to compile without too much work. I only had to dos2unix the configure files. After that it compiled perfectly. | 2003-08-01 19:47:07 | 0
BZFlag | games | -1 | Re: its a great game if i could install | I need help too. I am using SuSE linux version 8.2. I don't know which one to get. I have an intel compatible processor, if that is any help. Thanks! | 2003-08-01 19:48:36 | 11979
Heroes of Might and Magic 3 | games | -1 | where & how to download | I try to download HoMM3 for linux, but i can't find anywhere to download. Please show me where and how to download it. | 2003-08-01 20:33:34 | 0
Scorched 3D | games | 4512 | Ow | No,. I can't get it to compile either; aclocal complains a bit, then automake complains A LOT, then configure.ac gives a couple of errors, and finally configure dies. <P>I'm presuming this is a matter of different versions of automake, autoconf, etc; It'd be rather nice if the project came with the configure script already made, like practically any other project does. I think that would stop this problem (but no, I don't <I>know</I> as all the autoconf and configure guff always looks totally intractable to me). <P>I would rather like to be able to play this thing, as the screenshots look very cool. And I spent a fair while downloading the wXwindows packages for debian (plus trying to work out which of them I needed, there's quite a few). | 2003-08-01 22:51:17 | 0
Battle for Wesnoth | games | 4512 | Remember I said it was very slow? | Sorry I didn't try this version earlier, Sirp. <P>The new intro stuff is quite cool. But for whatever reason, the game now takes <I>ages</I> to start up (you know, before the window is even created). It's nice that the mouse is now grabbed, but it's annoying that now I don't think I can use any other program without quitting- many games that give fullscreen mode give you some means to switch back to windowed-mode again so you can do other stuff (like comment at happypenguin.org). <P>The movement is now quite a lot faster. In fact, apart from the few times when the units move slowly for no obvious reason, they actually look more like they've been shot out of a cannon! So now it's so fast that quite a few times I'd miss what was happening. Ahem. <P>It'd be handy to have a "Recap Mission Briefing" option now the game seems to be getting more complex. I think there was some other comment I was going to make, but I can't think what it'd be now. Oh, the new units and graphics stuff are neat- but I don't think it was that. Hmm. <P>I think when it's more finished, I'd give it 4/5, but meanwhile I'll say 3 (I try to avoid giving things 5/5) | 2003-08-02 00:48:26 | 0
