If we lived in the time of the American Civil War when the slaves were set free, I'm sure the slave owner's complained bitterly that they were not "free" to own slaves anymore. Today, it's the same with the GPL. All the Microshafts of the world complain bitterly about the GPL because it does not allow them to legally exploit GPL'd code for their own exclusive benefit.
