The FCP team wrote the engine from scratch, the reason most of the screenshots look liek WC2 is because you could insert the CD if you legally owned a copy of it and extract the grpahics/sounds from it. If anything FC was an easy way to get WC2 like play in OSX among many other originally unsupported systems. it's a shame that the project got shu down. Hoenslty, the name was just begigng for it. But all the graphics were original, all the code was original AFAIK. After that disappointing Warcraft 3 and Frozen Throne expansion as well as cancelling any plans for a sequel to StarCraft for the time being, they had to find some way to sell thier junk. I really wouldn't mind this if Blizzard would release a patch for Warcraft 2 for Linux, but that's not very likely.
