| 11828 | The Bub's Brothers | games | -1 | Re: Darnit | The server actually has a few command-line options (try python bb.py --help). One of them sets a limit on the number of lives -- although I did it some time ago and didn't test it for a long time: I guess that a player having exhausted his lives can simply log off and back on.

If there is enough interest I might develop this direction further so that the goal of the game can (optionally) be to go as far as possible instead of just stealing bonuses from other players :-)

Armin | 2003-06-09 03:08:34 | 11823 |
| 11829 | The Bub's Brothers | games | -1 | Re: Servers? | #ima is not too crowded, but that's indeed where I can (sometimes) be found. As for servers, currently they are not really meant to be run unattended (they won't restart a game automatically after the last level is reached). This could be fixed.

Armin | 2003-06-09 04:04:08 | 11806 |

| 11831 | Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory | games | 7033 | Re: Works great | The system that they have in place works quite well, although can still be abused by idiots. When you get killed by a teammate, you have the option or registering a complaint, and the 'offender' is notified of the outcome. Usually, you'll just want to dismiss a complaint (for me at least, it's usually a case of running into someones air strike, or getting in their way while they're firing at the enemy :P), but if you do register a complaint, the offender loses some XP. XP being what your ranking is based on, and what gains you extra skills. | 2003-06-09 05:20:01 | 11654 |
| 11832 | Megamek.NET | games | -1 | Good concept; few bugs; games too long | First off, this is a really well done implementation of the Battletech rules in an online multiplayer format. The only bugs I saw were some reporting info glitches with no effect on actual results and the rare server crash -- probably due to network issues rather than program problems.
That said, even small fights between experts took hours to play out. This is not a game to seek out if you're looking for a quick fit of exploding robots. It's a pretty major commitment to start a fbattle.
However, since you can log in and just spectate other people's fights, I'm still enjoying the game.
Also, if anyone figures out how to make the Mech information window persistent (instead of disappearing at each change of whose turn it is), that would be cool.
In short: well done, too long a game for me, but very faithful to the original. Four stars. Check it out. | 2003-06-09 07:13:29 | 0 |
