11593 3733 news 6327 FPS? I don't know if anyone else distinguishes, but I'd call Cold War a 3rd person game rather than first person. Maybe a third person adventure since if you go guns blazing you're supposed to wind up going down in a blaze of glory. Tux Games seemed to consider third person games FPSs too. Maybe it's just me.
Edd 2003-05-27 19:47:53 0

11597 Crafty games -1 strong one Crafty supports xboard protocol so you can use it as chess engine for many chess GUI-s, for example xboard, eboard, knights, scid etc. So basically it supports X. And through GUI-s it supports also networking, sound etc. Its one of the srongest, maybe even the strongest chess engine for linux. Highly recommended for analysing games. With xboard/scid/crafty you have very nice chess environment in linux! 2003-05-28 07:20:39 0

11599 3733 news 2 Re: FPS? I didn't realize Cold War was a third-person game. Had I, I certainly wouldn't have referred to it as "first-person". Oops. 2003-05-28 09:01:20 11593
11600 tileFoundry games -1 Binary included??? Please make separete binary and source packages, and don't include the object files in either!
I cannot comment on the editor itself (did not compile...SuSE8.1), only that if a _map_editor_ runs slowly on a 166-Pentium, there is something wrong with the code... 2003-05-28 11:03:30 0
11601 tileFoundry games -1 Re: Binary included??? The map editor doesn't run slowly, but I think there are probably issues with the frame-rate when you turn on the animation for the actors, which I need to get a handle on. It runs OK on my P166, but it is CPU/graphics-card bound.
There is a binary included. cd into the tileFoundry folder and run it by typing ./tileFoundy.
You may be able to recompile it from source by cding into the sourceCode/gameSupport folder, doing make clean;make then going back up a level and doing make. Certainly if you have GTK2, expat, SDL and SDL_image development packages on your system, it should build.
Be aware the binary gets put in the folder above the 'sourceCode' folder e.g. the 'tileFoundry' folder.
Removing the .o files is also a matter of doing make clean.
Thanks for trying it out, anyway. 2003-05-28 14:24:17 11600
11602 Neverwinter Nights Client games -1 Re: Legal piracy? I'm quite sure they could do an official installer- but their contracts with InstallShield won't let them. 2003-05-28 14:25:43 11584
