| 11552 | Cedega (WineX) | games | -1 | Make Linux run like XP: | XP is a steaming pile of camel poop. I wouldn't even wish it on Saddam Hussein. If you enjoy it, then more for you.

If you want Linux to perform like XP then replace your 512MB stick of RAM with a 128MB stick, and replace your 2.0gig Athlon with a Duron 650 and finally install the far from robust XPDE package.

Instant Windows XP emulation of looks, performance and stability.

No thanks, but I won't be buying any future MS offerings. I have been burned too many times before, and far prefer the Linux OS these days. But by all means, you keep paying your MS taxes. | 2003-05-25 13:39:28 | 10626 |

| 11554 | Neverwinter Nights Client | games | -1 | Re: it's devel stuff for the Biowarians | They dont cahrge you a fee for beta testing. You own the game => you can play it on linux now. That's a lot better than those Linux only boxes. Because you can get the Windows version very cheap and once you download the Linux client you can also play it on your favourite OS... Linux only boxes SUCK. Why don't those companies make boxes including both the Windows AND Linux client? That shouldn't be much of a problem since the data files still remain the same. Or at least release a Linux client in addition to the Linux box so you can also play with the data files from the windows version box... | 2003-05-25 14:52:14 | 11548 |

| 11558 | Game Editor | games | 5048 | Not so bad but... | There is work, you can play with it (now is 20030526) but there are 'bugs' in the demo and some problems with the engine itself : for example, the collision detection is not very accurate, you can see that on the arkanoid-like demo. The main problem is for me the future of this program : as you can see in the forum, there will be a professionnal version. The way it takes doesn't fit me. But as it's been said, it's the only one running on Linux just now. And it's farely easy to use once you've read the documentation. | 2003-05-26 00:55:06 | 0 |
| 11559 | Project: Starfighter | games | -1 | Nice, but finished quickly | This game is a great way to spend one or two afternoons(which is quite long compared to other open source games) bashing aliens like in the good old days, but after that you're completely finished with it. What I'd like to see is difficulty levels so once you're done with easy you can try medium, and eventually hard. Even a simple multiplier for spawning a few more enemies and making their weapons do more damage would be enough. Cheap way of keeping people busy longer. Oh and where are missions and enemies stored? In that .pak file? A few specifications would make it easier for other people to design some levels, weapons, enemies, etc. for this game. Or a level editor? | 2003-05-26 01:01:52 | 0 |
| 11560 | Neverwinter Nights Client | games | -1 | Re: beta4 with new ATI drivers | Sorry, I'm not being dishonest.

I wasn't saying that with every combination UT2003/NWN are 2x faster than in Win98.

However, with ATI's new drivers, UT2003 was faster than in Win98. I had exactly same settings both in Linux and in Win98. I did not take any screenshots and compare quality, nor did I measure fps. The game felt faster overall.

As for NWN - well, in Win98 movement was jerky (Catalyst 3.1 or 3.2 - I don't remember anymore). In Linux - movement is smooth. Why that is, I do not know. Driver issue?

The point I'm trying to make: my experince with Linux, ATI9700pro (with latest drivers) and these two games has been most positive.

Bye,

Jp | 2003-05-26 02:19:46 | 11544 |
| 11561 | Neverwinter Nights Client | games | -1 | Re: I used to think this game kicked ass | Now its all too late for ya, cos u already BUT proprietary WINDOWS stuff to try it, and you have supported the M$ empire!! | 11562 | Neverwinter Nights Client | games | -1 | Legal piracy? | The install instructions still say "copy from a windows installation". Can you even find a windows install of this game on a P2P network? Why can't they just put a windows install up on their website, if they can't figure out how to make an official installer? No way I am going to buy this game, just to log on to P2P and discover that I cannot find a windows install, and thus cannot play the game. | 2003-05-26 03:39:52 | 0 |
