| 11540 | 3706 | news | 7984 | Re: Offline gaming? | There is not really anything to do offline, except go through the training missions again. There is no AI or a single player mission mode, everything fun is online. But, I imagine that you will be able to do the training offline in the linux version much as you can in the Windows version. | 2003-05-24 13:49:59 | 11530 |
| 11541 | 3706 | news | -1 | Re: Offline gaming? | I mean, can't even play the game without an internet connection. You need to go online to sign-up before you can even use it. Then you have to sign-in online and it checks your user, keep it's records online. Can't even do a LAN game. This sucks, and is just a pricky way to keep control over the game and it's use.

Roll on Enemy Territory, the full version. This will make AA not even worth the download. | 2003-05-24 15:02:58 | 11540 |

| 11544 | Neverwinter Nights Client | games | -1 | Re: beta4 with new ATI drivers | Quake 3 ran a little faster on Linux than on my Windows 2k (with both the latest drivers and Geforce 2 MX). Someone told me that it would run even faster on Win98 for some reason. The good think about Linux is that most distributions already set it up with a good configuration so that the games actually will run a bit faster, but I think with some tuning you will surely get a compareable speed on a Windows Box... | 2003-05-24 17:02:04 | 11536 |
| 11545 | Cube | games | -1 | Can't start game. Missing lib files? | I get the following error when running ./bin_unix: ./bin_unix/linux_client:error while loading shared libraries: libSDL-1.2.so.0: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory. I am running Debian, but apt-get does not find this lib file. Is it part of a bigger set of lib files, and if so, what do I need? Thanks. | 2003-05-24 18:50:08 | 0 |
| 11546 | Microracers | games | 4512 | It's a good start | Considering it's only V0.1, it's looking pretty good!
OTOH, the game feels like it speeds up and slows down randomly, and the control feels quite bad. Also, when you get off the road, it feels like it's almost impossible to move. Yeah, I know it's supposed to be harder, but still...
Like I say though, the author isn't trying to claim it's finished, so I expect it'll get a lot better in these respects. | 2003-05-24 19:32:09 | 0 |
| 11547 | Crimson Fields | games | -1 | Some instructions would sure be nice! | I downloaded this and although it seems like it might be a neat game - I don't know what I'm doing through most of it! Some of out there have never played Battle Isle, and there are no instructions to be found either included with the game or at the game's web page. I can right-click on a unit, and it gives me some symbols and numbers, but nowhere is it explained what any of them mean, and about 4 tries into the game I saw that you can enter buildings, and nowhere is it explained why, although it looks like you might be able to put a unit into a building to repair it(?) At least a basic how-to is in order, please. | 2003-05-24 19:37:05 | 0 |
| 11548 | Neverwinter Nights Client | games | 6952 | it's devel stuff for the Biowarians | and of course I won't pay 50 bucks for that. It's just a client without anything. It's a box with 3 CDs instead of a comfortable DVD, the CDs don't contain any linux archives, there's no legal installer, no loki_updater, no movies, no toolset. Just compare it with Majesty, UT2003 or tuxracer. These are games for the market, not for beta testers. I know at least one more company that charges a fee for beta testing | 2003-05-25 04:28:39 | 0 |
