| 11519 | SDLPong | games | 6494 | SDL_ttf | Nice and simple. But if you're not going to employ any font smoothing or anything fancy, why bother using SDL_ttf (which just adds another requirement to a _very_ simplistic game), an not use another method, like say... bitmapped fonts?

If you write such a simple game, you should think about keeping the required libraries to a minimum. For many people with relatively old distros (which have stone-age SDL llibraries) it's a pain in the backside (ahem...) to upgrade. I'm not saying it's difficult, but... you get the message :-) | 2003-05-23 09:20:13 | 0 |
| 11521 | Eternal Lands | games | -1 | Eternal Lands | His license reads "we may collect all kinds of interesting info about your computer, but don't worry, we're the good guys" After reading this in the license I did some checking on these Radu Privantu and Maura Privantu developers. There is nothing on Maura but Radu is definitely NOT a "good guy" but a well known and disrespected hacker who has been banned from most role-play games. He is better known as Entropy Serpent or Chaos Serpent or Chaos Rift. Just Google his many names and you will see for yourselves. He has a reputation for hacking computers and destroying them. I am ashamed and appalled that Happy Penguin even lists this prick. | 2003-05-23 09:50:43 | 0 |
| 11522 | Game Editor | games | -1 | Games editor | I didn't tested it yet, but I liked The Games Factory, and it is pretty cool to have a Linux version of such a program.
I thought in writting a free program like this some time ago, although it is pretty hard. Too bad this is not a free project :( | 2003-05-23 10:58:51 | 0 |
| 11524 | Game Editor | games | 8017 | Re: Games editor | The Games Factory is a LOT more easy to use and I think that it was powerfull than this.
However Game Editor is pretty good and since there is no other program like this for Linux, I will give him 4 stars. | 2003-05-23 13:54:04 | 11522 |

| 11528 | Neverwinter Nights Client | games | -1 | Re: beta4 with new ATI drivers | Are you sure about that?

It's a well known fact that UT2k3 ran much better in Windows due to the fact that the game was written from the ground up for Direct3D, and later ported to OpenGL..

I suspect many people who claim a game runs WAY faster in Linux are not being honest with everyone.. I see these types of posts all the time in the WineX forums.

Please, do us all a favor and don't say that it runs 2x faster unless it does. I love Linux just as much as anyone else, but I won't spread false information about it.

See: http://www.thehaus.net/index.php?ent=4158

Hopefully, the game has been sped up since this bench was done. Does anyone who shares my frustration with dishonest Linux users want to comment on the latest version of UT2k3? | 2003-05-23 18:31:41 | 10162 |
