| 11479 | 3699 | news | -1 | Re: It's called '3D graphics' | You can use Blender,3DS Max, Lightwave, Cinema4D, Maya, or anything you like to render your sprites.
The point is that the features you say you want in a sprite editing app you get 'for free' if you use a 3D animation tool to produce your sprites.
It doesn't really matter which package you use, theyre all capable of this task. Use whatever you feel most comfortable animating with. | 2003-05-20 13:24:21 | 11454 |
| 11480 | Tribes 2 | games | -1 | Re: Tribes 2 not working with new glibc? | Hi! Get loki_patch & setupdb from the lokigames ftp and compile it (u need libxml for this!) I had to copy some of the include files of setupdb into the loki_patch dir to compile it. then do ./tribes2-25034-cdrom-x86.run --keep --target=t2patch This will extract the files from the installer into the dir t2patch. copy the self compiled loki_patch binary into t2patch/bin/Linux/x86 then exec t2patch/update.sh Should work fine did for me! | 2003-05-20 15:05:26 | 11170 |
| 11482 | Project: Starfighter | games | -1 | Wishlist | Here also, the space or ctrl bar doesnt cut the dialogues. At least, we should be able to pass to the next sentence without waiting when we're finished reading.
Also, i didnt find a nice way to exit in game.
Also, ctrl and space and directions should be editable.

Also, it's possible to put your ship on ennemies and hit them without any dommage, but they dont fire anymore when you are on top of them. nice way to kill them, especially some bosses.
Last, in the second system, against kline after the mining boss i dont have my multi beams anymore. That's unbalanced. There should be a few reload ship, from time to time to get power ups, like against chromium bosses (or almost every bosses in those games). Bosses are already hard enough.

Also, in interception missions, I dont have the red arrow anymore, that made it sometime difficult to locate the last ennemy, especially when it's stuck against the ally.
Speaking of the ally, it would be nice if he (she?) could get the slaves whenever she destroy a slave ships. stupid ally!

Beside those small points, it's a very nice game, whit good music, grafix, animation and gameplay.
| 2003-05-20 16:17:31 | 11472 |

| 11486 | armagetron | games | 7784 | zoom! | Wow! When I installed this, I was thinking "oh.. another Tron game." But then I realized how you can gain speed to muscle for position, and noticed that the AI was using some dirty tricks on me. I especially like the feeling of speed you get from the internal camera. Definitely worth playing if you have a 3D accelerated video card. | 2003-05-20 17:57:34 | 0 |
| 11487 | Project: Starfighter | games | 2328 | YOW! | Damn, this is great stuff! Great story, good characters, and a nice, animeish, "let's not take ourselves too seriously, now" plot style. :-) I enjoyed the ship's ability to upgrade and change weapons, too, which made for fun strategizing. And the variety of mission types was nifty. The battles, wooh...they were intense! I don't think I've fought so hard in Quake, even.

This is really commercial-quality stuff, for the 2D scroller market. Alas, there hasn't been one in several years...still, it's a lot better than some similar games I used to play (and buy!) back in the mid 1990's. The music's better for this game, though, and the graphics are cleaner, probably due to better technology. And it's free, too! (Well, I don't know about the license terms, but I got source, I can compile it, I can presumably send it to friends...works for me!) | 2003-05-21 00:34:53 | 0 |
