| 11441 | 3699 | news | -1 | DON'T DO THEIR WORK!!! | The whole "project" is quite a rip-off - starting with looking for people to create a game without paying a salary or anything, and without a guarantee that their (hard) work will be appreciated in any way. None of the people currently involved with Angry Pixels seem to have any fundamental biz background, they're just plain programmers and/or artists. And now they ask people who are not involved in the whole - COMMERCIAL - "project" (the final game is to be sold!!!) to do THEIR WORK - coming up with an appropriate logo can take up quite a lot of time and money - as someone in the previous discussions already noted - why don't they hire a professional company if they can't come up with a logo by themselves? The reason is that it requires market research, understanding the market sector(s) and other non-technical biz stuff - and therefore the answer is, as I already said in the beginning, that they want to exploit people's naiveness. The reason why I "dare" to come to such a conclusion and why I ask you all not to vote? Because: 1. I got a reply from them, when the whole thing was set up and I applied for getting involved in it, where they said more or less that everything I supplied is really top notch, but blah blah blah (finding an excuse to exclude me) - the reason for this (THAT I KNOW) is because they certainly have realized that I would not agree to their rip-off strategies (which became more and more clear only by time). 2. I am running my own biz and had to go through all this (creating logos, choosing the "right" one) myself, and I have lots of contact to other start-ups who told me the same - it's neither an easy task, nor cheap nor a time efficient process to create a corporate ID (and a logo is just one of it, website and other stuff are others - just in case you don't know - as someone hinted in one of the other replies - just waiting until they ask people to create their website...) They certainly are pros - they know which people they want in their projects, and which ones to exclude - they know how to "pull the right strings" to have their "puppets behave" (if any of those "hired" by LGP read this and think I'm talking crap, then try to ask some serious qusetions about copyright and stuff - thought you might run a high risk to get kicked out of the "company"! And don't ask LGP about this - they will surely tell you that this is all wrong! Alternatively you can also just go on as like normal and see for yourself how this "story" ends...). Thanks for reading, MaxPayne at nyc.com (flame- and nonsense-mail send to dev.null @ localhost) p.s. you might be asking yourself why do I bother writing this - reason is that it disgusts me that there exist people who go by this kind of mentality (meaning making use of other people's naiveness)... | 2003-05-19 06:59:37 | 0 |
