| 11371 | gngeo | games | -1 | Re: ?? | Does it can be free-as-in-speech, too ? Like, you know, GPL or BSD or something ? If not, then I'll go with that one, I think. Being true free software is enough of an advantage in and of itself, at least in my eyes... | 2003-05-16 06:24:11 | 11192 |

I could be wrong, but I reckon there's a slight probability the emulator could be hidden there...

PS : stop yelling !
| 2003-05-16 06:27:39 | 11201 |
| 11373 | Crimson Fields | games | -1 | great game! | This game is _great_! I played it all through the last two weeks (so I'd like to have some new missions, please :-). The graphics are nice, look just like they should.
I really prefer this game over ASC because the latter is too complicated for a short game.

I'm going to try the History Line import function now... | 2003-05-16 07:32:24 | 0 |
| 11374 | Marble Blast | games | -1 | Re: unplayable under 1.2 GHz !!! :-((( | I have the previous version of the game, bought a few months ago. My machine is PIII 500 MHz 128Mb, TNT2 graphics card. I use Mandrake 9.0. The Game plays smoothly, even while I play a mp3 in the background (its in game music is dull) Can't imagine that 1.4 makes a massive leap in extra resources though.

Some of the levels are excellent. Others so - so. Nice game overall though. Fun if you like Monkey ball or Kula World and that sort of stuff, which I do. David O'Connell | 2003-05-16 08:58:18 | 11309 |
| 11375 | 3706 | news | 4553 | Leak? | So what's the deal with this? Did somebody leak the beta to Gentoo? Wouldn't icculus and americasarmy.com be announcing it if it were an official release? Didn't icculus say in his .plan just prior to going to E3 that beta testing was still wrapping up? If this is a leak, it reflects *really* badly on Gentoo and the entire linux gaming community. | 2003-05-16 09:27:06 | 0 |

| 11377 | Arkhart | games | 4512 | Oh. | Finally got around to trying this, as it had looked pretty cool.
Download was pretty big, but managable (and they nicely made the source and data separate, which some people don't bother to do). Compilation was nicely trouble-free (although as with many C++ projects it took up reams of disk space). Installer was simple (didn't need root privs). Then I tried running it.
Ye gods, it's slow. Is it being developed on a quad-xeon with some top-of-the-range ge-force card or something? I'm getting 2-3 fps on my mere mortal machine, and it's not like there's any action going on. Also there was a weird bit with a load of polygons just blank-white. Oh well. Otherwise looks fairly pretty. | 2003-05-16 10:25:27 | 0 |
| 11378 | 3706 | news | -1 | Not a Leak, read the .plan! | If you go to www.icculus.org and finger icculus, his .plan shows that he has indeed provided a Live CD version as an exclusive to Gentoo for a few days followed by a Public Linux Client.

This version is a bootable CD and is currently the only way to play Americas Army sans Windoze. | 2003-05-16 10:52:03 | 11375 |

| 11380 | 3706 | news | -1 | I know what you mean! | After a bad day listening to United States representatives drivel-on about irrelevancies in the news, I'd actually *like* to have a go at playing the terrorists! | 2003-05-16 10:59:00 | 11376 |
