11278 3699 news -1 Free logos? The skeleton Tuxes are cool! Not as a logo, but othervise. Please GPL/free them! (Unless you use them as the logo, of course) 2003-05-12 05:02:21 0
11281 Cube games -1 Re: how to run There is a subdir bin_unix. if you unzipped with a gui tool, permissions probably weren't be set correctly so the executable perms aren't on the binaries. either use unzip on the command-line, or:
<SAMP> # cd directory_where_you_unzipped_cube
# chmod +x cube_unix
# cd bin_unix
# chmod +x *
</SAMP> then run <SAMP>cube_unix</SAMP> or <SAMP>linux_client</SAMP> and have a good fragging session :-)

D.plomat[RAID] 2003-05-12 05:49:03 10978
11282 Cube games -1 Re: levles I run it behind an iptables firewall and multiplayer is working fine, just that i can't host a cube server without modifying my firewall rules for adding a port forwarding rule. If your internet computer is *only* a www proxy like squid, then you can't do manythings except surfing the web and should consider adding masquerading capabilities to it.

FPS really depends on your settings, and the design of the map. Furthermore, i prefer a stable 60 fps with constant visual quality than a 30 to 90 fps. You can try to tweak the settings, but will you really see the difference between 60 and 100 fps (60 fps>cinema movie, and close to monitor refresh rates for some resolutions). Same thing apply for networking code: it is well playable at 200 ping, and very comfortable/accurate at 100 ping.

D.plomat[RAID] 2003-05-12 06:06:17 7926
11283 3699 news -1 Re: 3699 I didn't see any that I thought fitted - I think the problem is that "Angry Pixels" implys a logo - Most strong logos are simple and/or arbitary. 2003-05-12 06:53:46 11272
11284 3687 news 7154 Re: Yeahhh!!!! The world isn't big enough for two Linux publishers? But seriously Mr. Simms, you guys do an excellent job. I just got my Majesty order and my wife and I are really enjoying it. Thank you. Incidentally, what is Nottingham like this time of year? 2003-05-12 07:49:25 11199

11288 FreeDroid games 5968 Re: paradroid on the c64 yes, it's Blackhawk. (Btw there's another free Paradroid-inspired game which has exactly that name..) As far as I've seen though, the second ship was exactly identical to the first one (apart from the colors maybe, I saw it only in the metal edition), even the droids seemed to be the same. In Freedroid, once you've finished the ship, you simply start again with your score continued... so it comes down to pretty much the same ;) Cheers, Rh 2003-05-12 09:45:54 11261
11289 FreeDroid games 6077 Re: paradroid on the c64 quote:
" yes, it's Blackhawk. (Btw there's another free Paradroid-inspired game which has exactly that name.. "

I think this is not completely correct. The game you're referring to is possibly 'nighthawk'. And as far as I can remember, the name of the second ship used to be 'Metahawk'. Please correct me if I'm wrong there. See ya, jp. 2003-05-12 10:09:52 11288
11290 3699 news -1 Slim Pickings
I voted for this one: http://www.angry-pixels.com/logos/21785.png.

Although I thought there were a few 'ok' ones, none stuck out as 'the' logo to pick. But this one could have a nice flame effect applied to it at the logo screen of their games and so I think it would be the coolest (that is what we are after, isn't it?).

Of course the others could be animated in different ways, but there is something about animated flames that is hypnotizing.
 -GFY 2003-05-12 11:15:09 0
